“More than once did Elizabeth, in her ramble within the park, unexpectedly meet Mr. Darcy. She felt all the perverseness of the mischance that should bring him where no one else was brought, and, to prevent its ever happening again, took care to inform him at first that it was a favourite haunt of hers. How it could occur a second time, therefore, was very odd! Yet it did, and even a third. It seemed like willful ill-nature, or a voluntary penance, for on these occasions it was not merely a few formal inquiries and an awkward pause and then away, but he actually thought it necessary to turn back and walk with her.”
Juliet was entranced. Even though she had read Pride and Prejudice only about a thousand times, she still could not hide her delight at Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth’s romantic saga. It gave her such pleasure to read, which was probably why this was the second or third time she had read it this month. Needless to say, she was quite the bookworm. She immersed herself in books; not only did she read them, she lived them. When she was reading, she could feel every syllable, hear every punctuation mark, and smell every description. Reading -- much like when she was on a horse’s back -- spoke to her every sense, and forced her to live in the moment. There wasn’t a tomorrow, or a yesterday, just a today, just a right now! She loved it.
Maneuvering a stray lock of hair back to its rightful place behind her ear, she languorously finished her chapter, and put the book down. Well, actually, she placed it under her right knee, lest she fall asleep and someone come by and swipe it. Not like that was very likely, it was so peaceful in here. And it’s not like anyone was going to come up to the hayloft to steal an old, beaten up copy of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. Plus, her current position wasn’t the most obvious to anyone who might wander in. She was currently situated so she was leaning against a stray hay bale towards the back of the eaves, her legs criss-cross apple sauced in front of her. There were plenty of wall spaces available -- actually, all of them were vacant, as far as she could see—but she favored the hay. Why? Well, because each time she moved, an invisible puff of wonderful smelling hay detached itself from the bale and floated towards her nose. To her, this was the most amazing smell in the world, besides coconut candles, sunscreen, and coffee. Mhh. I could stay here all day! She thought lazily, allowing her eyelids slide shut. If it wasn’t for that adorable horse of hers, she probably would. It didn’t take much to please Juliet; she enjoyed the simple things in life.

Mathew Potension With Wishfull Thinking, Moose, Hopefull Dreaming & Moonlight Dancing Okay today would be thr first day he woud take the puppys to the stable to see how they reacted around horses, he dobted they would come here ofte and for today he only brought the girls and there parents. It was more a case that he was curious as to what they would do around horses, and Artemis being a shy puppy he doubted she would leave his side.
Pulling into the drive and cutting the engine of his big truck Matt soon was bombarded by excited puppys and dogs. Letting the parents out and being knocked around so much that both puppys managed to break free from his grip on the leads. Hope and Artemis darted forward, there parents hot on there heels. Both puppys darted through the barn yipping playfully, and darting up the small wodden staircase up into the loft. The two older dogs not far behind them, Matt behind them all calling for them to stop.
Artemis and Hope soon were bounding around in the straw with there parents, then noticing someone, a girl, in the corner near a bale of hay the puppys leapt onto her lap yipping and licking her face wagging there tails ten to the dozen. There parents soon coming to join in the fun. Matt was now up the small staircase and staring at his dogs momentarily. "No stop it, i'm so sorry." He said plowing through the dogs and grabbing both puppys and there parents to get them off of the girl. But Hope being Hope escaped his grip and curled up in the girls lap staring at her with the typical puppy dog eyes...

Juliet had fallen asleep. After putting her book down, she had taken a few moments to revel in the sights and smells of the loft, and eventually had drifted off, her head resting gently on the bale of hay. Not that she cared about her appearance much, but if she could have drifted out of her body momentarily, she probably would have given herself low points for image. After only ten minutes of gentle napping, there was straw strewn about her clothes, and entwined in her hair. Her mouth was slightly agape, and, oh my gosh, was that drool?! Disgusting. She was in ill state to be seen. But what did that matter, here in her dream world? Currently, in dream land, she was prancing through meadows in a light blue evening gown, singing in an amazingly unrealistic voice, and leading behind her all sorts of wood-land creatures. It was kind of a sleeping beauty meets the sound of music fantasy. Queer, but oddly likeable. That was probably why when she felt the tiny tongues on her face, she didn’t notice anything odd at first. Maybe in her dream they translated into the wind, or even her hair blowing around her head. But whatever they were, she was not hasty to wake because of them. It was the voice that yanked her out of her dreamland. adieu, sleeping beauty/Julie Andrews, i'll see you sometime later.
The voice was male, which to all females said the same thing: time to impress. Well, maybe not all females, but the vast majority of them. You obviously want to look good for a guy. Abruptly, she sat up straight, madly combing the straw from her hair, and wiping the sleep from her eyes. That’s probably about when she took a second to come in focus with her surroundings. Wait, pause. There are puppies on my lap, licking my face! This oddity actually worked out to her advantage; because of the puppies, she was able to wipe whatever drool residue there was from the corner of her mouth without the voices’ owner from seeing. Mission accomplished, she now looked semi-decent. Semi.
As the canines were pulled from her person, she took time to notice the boy. He looked about her age, and was pretty cute, from what she could see. Nervous about actually having to interact with him, she was glad when a puppy escaped his grip and found its way back into her lap. Instantly, she fell in love with the thing, and figured that he was going to have a hard time getting it back. Glad for the distraction, she focused solely on stroking the little creature, and not on looking at the boy. “Uh, it-it’s alright. I was just…” Reading? Napping? Did she lie and say that she had been very involved in her novel? No, that would risk him contradicting her and pointing out the plain truth that her book was still snugly under her knee. But if she confessed to sleeping, he could obviously point out that she had been drooling. Stop over-thinking! She would have kicked herself if she could have, but she didn’t want to come off as an even bigger mess. Finishing your sentence would be nice, too. “I was just… resting. Long day.” She laughed nervously, quickly raising her gaze to make eye contact with him, before averting her focus back to the puppy. Stop petting it so determinedly or it’s going to turn into a hairless!

As hope started to receive the attention she wanted she leapt up tothe human girls face and started licking her, wagging her tail franticly. Matt half jumped then stopped he had an armfull with Artemis and her parents leads. "Hope stop it, get down. I'm really sorry, they have no manners and there brothers are twice as bad..." he trailed off trynig not to think about what the two young males were doing to his house now. But he did know that he wouldn't be leaving them for long knowing full well that they ould chew through his boots or ter up the sofa or something like that.
Hope started yipping at the human girl and ignored her human, the mixed brown and white puppy was over excited and now couldn't sit still. This was the only real time outside of her home that she had met another human and that was only because her human couldn't really walk four puppys and two dogs all at the same time it just got to be too much. Matt soon kneeled down in the thin layer of straw that covered the floor, desprately trying to get his puppys attention and stop her from licking the poor girl. But he also focused on the other three dogs that he had. Artemis the black mixed coloured pup curled into her masters chest showing just how shy this puppy really was. "Oh sorry, i'm Matt and these lot are, Wish, Moose, Artemis and you have Hope refusing to leave you alone, i'm really sorry about her." As he said each canines name he pointed to them, first Wish the brown australian sheperd mix who wore a red bandanna collar, then Moos the black and white mutt wh wore a simple blue nylon collar, then to the mixed black, white and some brown puppy in his arms who wore a black collar to match her pelt. Then last but not least Hope, the brown tan and white puppy who wore a Red collar.

As soon as he began reprimanding the puppy -- who was currently making herself comfortable on Juliet’s lap – she began to freak out. No, don’t call her off, she’s fine, finneee. Hopefully her eyes didn’t reveal the same distress she was feeling in the pit of her stomach. She had to address him with firmness, but not too firm. She had to tell him, ‘no, it’s fine that your adorable dog is on my lap, please let her stay,’ but not say, ‘LEAVE ME ALONE WITH YOUR DOG!’ She needed to stop freaking out about absolutely nothing, is what she needed to do. Instead of replying to him at once, she tried calming the puppy down, talking in what she assumed to be a sweet baby voice. “It’s alright, shhh, shh, don’t bark.” She massaged her fingers into the little dog’s ears, gently pushing her down, hoping to coax her to lie peacefully on her lap. It had been a long time since she had had a dog -- especially a puppy -- and so it felt strange to pet something so miniature. She communicated her feelings. So much for the long, drawn out thought process of determining what she was going to say. “I’m not used to little puppies you know; I’m used to big horses.” She said this while still focusing on the dog, which made it uncertain who exactly she was talking to, him or the canine. Oh well. She continued the motions of petting, gliding her fingers under the puppy’s soft fur. She could do this all day.
Okay, so now came the hard part. Slowly, she raised her eyes to meet his. After all, he was talking to her; it was rude not to look at him, right? Right?! Chill, Julie, chill. She met his gaze, trying her hardest not to make weird faces in keeping her concentration. Yeah, funny story there: she’d almost been kicked out of taking the SATs her junior year because her concentration technique was to move her face around a lot, and so the instructors thought she was sending messages to another student. It wasn’t very funny then, but it was a good story now. As he introduced himself, and each of his furry companions, she smiled, acknowledging each one with a pat (except for him, obviously. Can you say, “awkward?”) When he introduced the puppy on her lap, Hope, she averted her gaze – yesss! – back to her lap, and greeted the dog accordingly. “She is so cute,” she said, beaming “I might just steal her when you’re not looking.” Hopefully that wasn’t the wrong thing to say. Just what she needed, to finally gain a little confidence, and have it snatched away along with his wonderful little bundle. She tried winking to prove that she was only kidding, but she feared it might come out looking stupid and totally conveying the wrong message, and so she stopped mid-blink. Greeeeeeaat.
Now that she had successfully made it obvious that she was a grade-A freak, she decided to introduce herself. “I’m Juliet, by the way,” She replied – a little late, but still… -- with a nod. At a loss for what to say, she giggled nervously, and said “So, I’m guessing you like dogs?” Well, it was a start.

He laughed but sat down and let his three dogs climb all over his lap while Hope still focused on getting as much attention from the female human. Matt watched the little canine as she freaked out nipping playfully at the girls clothing trying to play instead of calm down. That was no fun, that was all her parents ever done lay down or sit with the human or something boring like that. Tugging at the girls top and growling playfully Hope still wagged her tail as fast as any dog could.
Matt thought about what she said for a moment well he still had the two males left at home who could do with homes, who knew this girl may be able to take one off of his hands. But then again did he really want to ger rid of them, well six dogs was a fairly high number even for him. "Thanks, i've got her two brothers back home, neither got homes so i'm now stuck with them unless of course you would like to take the pup that is so much like her it's insane? And I like dogs yeah, but the litter really wasn't expected... But I can't really complain there all lovely" He said when she started comanting on how cute Hope was. Maybe she would take Helios maybeshe wouldn't, but as he had said Helios was so much like his sister that it was sometimes hard to tell who was who through personality. But thankfully his pelt was differently coloured...

Juliet giggled as Hope jumped through hoops to get her attention. Obviously this puppy was not one to sit and stay, but that was just fine with her! Leaning back a little more against the hay bale, she ducked and weaved to the best of her ability, proving an eager partner for the little puppy. She giggled. Stated earlier, Juliet was easily entertained. In the middle of her routine, she stopped to tie her hair in a quick bun before resuming the game. Sure, she probably didn’t look so amazingly attractive with her hair all mussy, with various strands loosing themselves from the confines of her hair tie, but what the heck. She realized that she didn’t really care anymore, and so she could let loose a little more freely.
Though playing with the dog, her ears were still fully functional, and so she heard what he said about the other puppy. She paused abruptly, and immediately brought her hands to the small canine’s body to prevent her from losing her momentum and flying into an injury. Her eyes rose to his, and she cocked an eyebrow. “You have more? That, I mean, that you’re willing to giv- sell?” She blinked in disbelief. She hadn’t thought that just by reading, her entire afternoon could turn out so well! Imagine, from Jane Austen one minute, to a little baby doggie the next!
But wait, she was getting too far ahead of herself. Waaaay too far. Did she have the time for a puppy? Owning Pirate was already a pretty big handful, and with a new dog to train, AND the stress of college… In the moment. Live in the moment. she cautioned herself to prevent from getting overwhelmed. Right. But how great would that be? Having a little dog, teaching him to sit, shake, the works. She could probably convince her parents to look after him while she was away for short periods, and if Pirate was going with wherever she went long-term, she could probably arrange for a smaller critter too, right? Sure. Done. Ever the optimist, she nodded vigorously. “I’d absolutely adore a little puppy! This one, Hope, she’s adorable, but I mean, they all are. I’m just drawn to her outgoing personality, probably because she’s everything I’m not… but anyways, yeah, I mean, if you’re looking for a home for one of them, I’d be happy…” She smiled, and continued her game with Hope. A puppy. Hmmm….

"I actually plan to keep Hope and her sister, Why don't you come back to mine sometime, now if you wish then you can meet Helios. Her older brother, Well older because he was first born and she was third. He is a golden tan and white with well like I say the exactly same personality as Hope. They all have full names but also shorter names to make life easyier. So if you would like to come around to see him, I could always take you now if you would like. I should take the grls home too" Okay possibly too much said but hopefully she would love Helios as much as she seems to like Hope. He was a wonderfull puppy who would be a great dog, but Matt was going to have to have him neutered if he had to keep the males.
Artemis curled closer to her human whimpering slightly, the shyest of the litter and yet by far the cutest, Wish licked the whimpering puppy trying to calm her but for a whlie nothing worked in getting the puppy away from her humans chest. Moose layed at his humans side with a stupid look on his face, always the careless mutt was Moose. Hope on the other hand was still tugging and trying to play, but when she was grabbed and stopped she sorta froze before thinking momentarily on what to do next. Wagging her tail again she started to yip wrigling stupidly, and shaking her head.

Juliet continued playing with Hope, picking up a loose piece of straw – wasn’t hard to come by in this loft – and tickling her nose with it. As he spoke about this new, unknown puppy, she felt her heart rising, and her stomach releasing butterflies as she became more and more excited. This was going to be so cool! She looked up at him with a smile. For some reason, she trusted him even though she had only really just met him. That was just one of her things, she trusted people pretty easily. It’s not like she thought he was dangerous, good heavens no! But wasn’t the old saying, “don’t talk to strangers, even if they say they’re going to let you pet their cute dog?” How ironic! She would have laughed if she thought it wouldn’t have been weird. Yeah, but anyways. “Yeah, if you want, I can go with you, if that’s not too much of a hassle for you. If you have enough room in your car, I mean, with all these furry friends!” She gave Hope a little pat, and half-heartedly continued with the little game. She was way too excited now to put as much energy into playing with her as she had, plus her liveliness was dying down – she couldn’t stay energized forever! “I’d love to meet her big brother!” She had to restrain herself from doing a little dance of excitement. That’s when she had an idea. She felt kind of bad imposing on him like this, and so she figured she’d at least give him some kind of compensation, however crappy it may be. She cleared her throat. “In return, uh, if you’d like, I’ll take you to meet my horse. I’d let you ride him, but he’s not very nice in the saddle, but I mean, be my guest.” Oh well, it may not be much, but she felt like she had at least tried to repaid him for how nice he’d been about the whole thing.

Matt stood quickly not realising that Moose had slowly crept onto his lap and layed there. Hugginh Artemis close to his chest he lauchet lightly again. "As long as you can put up with Hope trying to play with you there will be plenty of space in my truck. And it's not a long journy, the only real reason I bother with brnging the truck is so I can bring the dogs without walking them on the road." Moose had fell to thr floor and sorta whimpered his complaint before lazily getting up and waiting for something to happen. Wish sat for a couple of moments before getting up and wagging her tail lightly. Hope still squirmed slightly and tried biting at the straw but failing each time. "Would you like to bring Hope to my truck or do you want me to take her back?"

Juliet followed his lead, and stood too, scooping up Hope like a tiny child and cradling her. She probably doesn’t like this, she thought, unconsciously flipping her over and stroking her head, but I don’t see how I’m going to put her down! But wait, this almost certainly was not the best idea. Juliet had been pretty much inseparable with the puppy since the boy had walked in with his entire canine family – she had to leave her sometime. After all, she was going down the road to meet her brother, and she would feel wicked bad if she couldn’t detach herself from Hope. Reluctantly, she bent down and placed her softly on the ground, giving her a quick stroke. So, uh, were they leaving? If they weren’t she would look like a fool standing up to go if he was just stretching his legs. To cover it up, she leaned back against the wall… wait, what wall? Oops! Too late, by the time it took her to casually lean back, she had already forgotten that there was no wall behind the stray hay bale, and that she had just been leaning against that for support. Maladroitly she tumbled backwards, tripping on the straw in the process, and landing on her back, feet up in the air. She could feel the breath leaving her lungs, which made it even more awkward, because she couldn’t make a quick recovery. Good thing I’m wearing jeans, she thought as she tried, fruitlessly, to suck in air. Finally, her windpipes seemed done with torturing her, and they expanded, allowing her to at least breathe. As she sucked in, a wave of embarrassment flooded over her. After all, she had just fallen, that was bad enough on your own, but with a guy watching? And oh my goodness, and were those her legs still stuck in the air like a flagpole?! Hurriedly, she lowered them, and tried to bring herself to at least a sitting position. That… kind of worked. It wasn’t exactly sitting, what she was doing, but it wasn’t sprawled-out-helpless-on-the-floor either, so it was a start. Ok, now. With a deep breath, she came to the realization that he had been talking to her this whole while. Thinking it rude not to respond, even though she had a perfect valid excuse to postpone her reply, she mulled his words over in her head. Ride in truck, not walk on the road, take Hope to car. Ok, she got it. With a smile, defying her true inner emotion – which just happened to be, “ouch” – she answered. “I totally understand. If I had dogs as sweet as yours, I wouldn’t want to take the risk of walking them on the road either. As for Hope, whatever’s easiest, you know? If you need some help, I’d be glad to, you seem to have quite a handful…” she trailed off, laughing slightly, even though it hurt her ribs. Oh please, God. Please don’t let me have broken anything, pleeeeeeaaaaaseeeeee! As she fake-smiled, hiding the soreness beneath her skin, she thought to herself, Sheesh, this must be awkward for him too, and then, with an internal bitter laugh, at least he can’t feel it though. Oh well. Stand tall, Juliet! You’re a trooper! …..Riiight.

Tilting his head slightly noticing something wrong, but unsure if it was just him seeing something that wasn't there or if he had seen something wrong but just couldn't tell what it was. Holding Artemis under his arm and her parents leads in his hand Matt slowly walked down from the loft the two adult dogs following behind him slowly, Wish pausing once to see where her puppy was, on seeing the the female had her Wish trotted down from the loft after her master.
Matt made his way over to his black 1999 Dodge 2500 SLT, Stopping at the truck and unlocking it to let his three dogs jump into the back seats he left the passnger door open for Hope and Juliet, making his way quickly aorund to the drivers door he climbed in and sat waiting for Hope and Juliet.

Well, good to see he hadn’t noticed her fall. She wiped a bead of sweat off her forehead. If he had noticed it, a big deal wasn’t made over it, and so she was content. Her back was going to hurt tomorrow though. She sighed and watched him lead his posse of canines out to the car. She had to collect herself first, no way was she going to walk downstairs and fall again. Testing her legs, she spread them out, taking care to examine her knee-caps for any pain. Bad knees ran in her family, and the last thing she needed were shattered knee-caps. But then again, she definitely would have felt a serious injury like that, and since she was pretty much unscathed, she figured nothing was broken, shattered, or sprained. But oh, how she ached ! She could feel the fall emanate through her body like an earthquake, leaving tremors of pain in every bone and muscle. Pulling herself up into a stand, she dusted off her pants and her shirt – where the most damage had been done when she’d fallen – and bent over to scoop up Hope. At least she hadn’t fallen on any dogs! She laughed bitterly at the possibility of a puppy pancake, and made her way shakily to the loft’s ladder. But then, mon dieu! she remembered. My book! No way, no way would she – could she – leave that behind. With a high-pitched yelp of realization, she walked back to where she had left Pride and Prejudice lying on the ground. She bent over and grabbed it, now cradling Hope in one hand and Jane Austen in the other, and scampered out of the loft.
She felt dumb to see him waiting like that. Waiting for her. She offered a small, embarrassed smile, holding the book up for way of explanation. “I, uh, I left this so I had to go back…” Quickly, she hurried to the passenger side, noticing the door was already opened. She smiled internally at his courteous mannerism. How sweet! If she was a guy, she would definitely do stuff like that for girls – it was just, so right. Putting both Hope and the book on her lap, and securing them both with her hand, she pulled the door shut, and buckled her seatbelt. If one thing was for sure, it was Juliet’s seatbelt usage. Always, always, always. She never had been without it, and didn’t plan on doing so. Safety first!
