A loud clanging of hooves against the trailer echoed through out the yard as Terry jogged around to the back, her eyes rolling at the impatience of her horse. Her bangs were messily pulled up in to a strange samurai-ish bun with a rubber band that she found on the dashboard of the truck. Yawning, she stretched out the kinks and cramps that had formed during the long road trip. Her neck and back popped as she completed her stretching with a long exhale.
Another series of banging hooves against the trailer prompted Terry to slap the side of the vehicle. "Damien! Hush up in there!" After a moment of silence, the cheeky horse made more noise with a vengeance. Obviously, a cranky horse and a cranky girl don't mix very well.
Groaning in frustration, Terry unlatched the back door, revealing the dusty, shedding yellow rump of the horse. The hay-tangled creme tail flicked about in impatience as the gelding's sturdy, small hooves stomped on the straw covered floor. His fluted nostrils fluttered as he wickered and tossed his head in excitement at the sight of her.
Smirking, she firmly patted Damien's quarters, enjoying the little poofs of the dust that floated up with each pat. "Scooch over, Fatty" She playfully said as she pushed against his flank. With a snort, the palomino swung his hinds away, his head straining toward her. "Hiya, Danny" She chirped, rubbing and scratching his forehead and down his face as he leaned into her. Untying his leather halter from the trailer, she led him out on a worn leather lead rope.
Fidgety and excited, the palomino rushed out of the trailer, clattering down the ramp and into the stable yard. Caught off guard, Terry was forcefully pulled along until she let go to avoid a rope burn. She growled. "Gosh darn it Damien," she muttered as she inspected her hand for a rope burn. The gelding was prancing and spinning about around her, teasing her and enticing her to chase. Rolling her eyes, she crossed her arms and playfully scowled. "I'm not catching you until you get your itchy feet out." But feeling playful herself, she gave a few stomps in his directions, enough to make him swerve, toss his head, and go the other direction. Terry giggled, enjoying the bright click clack of hooves in the yard and the horse's obvious cheery playfullness.
