"Hey, Girl. How are you doing? I know it's a new place and there are a lot of unfamiliar people here, but you'll settle in. I know you will. A lot better than I will, that's for sure." Meleah Callaway stroked the dished shape of her horses face and kissed her black muzzle. Taking a step to the side, Mel placed her forehead against Aliyah's neck; Mel's hair madly contrasting against Aliyah's white, glossy coat.
Mel sighed and walked to the door of the closed stall and leaned against it. She turned to look at Aliyah concern in her eyes. "How many places are we going to have to go before we belong somewhere? Of course, you get along most anywhere that you go. You get along with everyone, but me...well, that's another story..." She trailed off and picked up a curry comb and began brushing the all ready exquisite horse's coat. "There's a storm coming, Aliyah. We may be fine now, since it's the first day, but with the way things go, we're going to get soaked..."

Kelly McClain && Rambling Gambling Man "Easy ya' big lug" Kelly yelped, jogging into the stable with her mustang stallion, Rambling Gambling Man. They were both soaked through, Kelly's grey jacket a darker shade of grey and the bay on Gambit now contrasting sharply with the white. Gambit snorted, more than eager to be out of the wet, droplets of water dripping out of his mane and tail, dripping form his chin and flung from his ears. If there was one thing Gambit didn't like it was getting wet which also made him a pain to bathe but that was a whole other problem all together. Getting stuck out in the rings totally unaware of the coming rain had been another. It made the stallion pushy, tugging the reins in his mistress's hands, eager to be in his warm dry stall and demand to be covered and dried.
Kelly McClain, five feet, seven inches with long blond hair and faded blue-grey eyes jogged alongside the fifteen point three hand stallion, riding boots clopping on the concrete along with his hoofbeats. Approaching the stall labeled "Rambling Gambling Man," Kelly sighed and pulled back the bolt and ushered her wet stallion inside. Gambit went willingly with a happy snort before noticing the new horse to the right of his stall, a white Arabian from the look of her. Instantly Gambit's attention was capture and he was trying to reach her over the wall of the stalls, nickering to her curiously.
Rolling her eyes that major flirt in horse's clothing, Kelly went about pulling off the wet western style saddle and stock bridle, taking them into the tack room and leaving Gambit to try and get the new girl's attention. When she came back, Kelly looked over at the new girl and smiled. "Hi, some weather out there huh?" Kelly said, nodding to the barn entrance where the sky was gray and rain kept coming down.
Getting into Gambit's stall again, Kelly spread a blanket over him, fastening it to keep it from sliding off when he moved around. Gambit snorted and decided to investigate his hay net instead of flirting which made Kelly laugh. "You're such a weird horse Gambit" Kelly said lovingly, patting the stallion's white-splattered neck.

Meleah was slightly surprised to hear another rider coming into the barn, horse in hand. But she ignored the on comer for the most part, just turning her head to see who the new comer was. Of course, Mel didn't know who it was, she hadn't really spoken to anyone since she'd arrived. Aliyah, on the other hand, nickered softly in response to the oncoming footsteps and walked closer to Mel to better see who was coming. Aliyah eyed the big mustang and nodded her head up and down, making Mel laugh softly and pat her forelock. "Silly, you don't even know him."
Hearing water droplets hit the floor, Mel smiled, looking at Aliyah, "Well, I didn't mean an actual storm, but that works too." Alli pushed her head against Mel's hand and looked her in the eye. "I know, I know. I should make friends...easier for you than for me though. You know that." Mel stopped talking as the stallion and girl entered the stall next to them. The horse nickered at Alli and the Abrian reached out with her neck in response and gave a soft snort, showing Mel the way to make friends. Meleah only rolled her eyes in response.
On her way back from the tack room, the girl spoke to girl spoke to Mel and she nodded. "Yeah, some weather." Mel began to stroke Alli with her brush again, until the Abrian bumped her head into Mel's shoulder, prompting her to speak again. "Erm, that's a nice stallion you have there. Mustang?" She asked only slightly curiously. Alli could be so 'helpful' sometimes. Showing her approval she snorted again, making Mel smile.

Kelly looked over as the girl mentioned Gambit and smiled, patting the stallion's neck. "Yep, my dad was a rancher so all his kids have work horses except for Jill." Kelly nodded to the stall across the aisle from Gambit's. Inside it stood a passive looking dappled grey warmblood mare. Her name plate read "Smoke Signal" which suited her coloring perfectly. Kelly looked around for the grooming kit she had left in Gambit's stall before leaving to ride him to begin with and stooped to grab it out of the corner while Gambit went for his hay net. Pulling the cover off of him again, Kelly smiled aplogetically to the curious stallion. She'd almost forgotten to groom him which wouldn't have been good.
Looking back over at the other girl, Kelly smiled. "My name's Kelly by the way, me and my sister just moved her to live with our uncle and brother." Weird right? Brother already living with uncle and then parents split and twins get sent in? Yeah, weird but Kelly knew she probably preferred living with Uncle Richard rather than living with her dad whom had all but disappeared into thin air.
Of course Kelly didn't know very many people in the stable yet. Moving wasn't exactly easy for her since she was a naturally shy person. She mostly stuck around with her twin or haunted Aaron's shadow but right now Jill was in town and thus had left Kelly without the car to get home. Aaron was off doing who knew what while still with his arm casted, probably with his girlfriend whom Jill and Kelly had yet to meet and criticize for worthiness. Right now though, all things considered Kelly was feeling relatively confident so she might as well try to make friends and show her siblings she wasn't totally spineless.
Gambit snuffled happily as Kelly started bringing the curry comb over his back and shoulders, brushing off extra water and dust that still clung to his pelt. He swished his tail contentedly, looking over at the white mare and nickering. Kelly swatted his shoulder lightly. "Shush you silly boy. You're already on a stud list, you don't need to be flirting."

Looking across the aisle, she saw a dappled grey mare. "She's pretty." Mel continued to brush Alli's coat for a moment before going to put away the curry comb and find a hoof pick.
Mel thought that was a bit odd, but she let it go, nodding in response. "It's nice to meet you, Kelly." Mel wasn't really doing more than being polite and didn't attatch her name to the greeting. But Alli whinnied at Gambit's flirtatiousness, making a distraction, and, instead of pricking her ears toward him like Mel thought she would, she pawed the ground lightly. "Alli, what are you doing? Do you want to play? You've been cooped up too long. I'll get you out tomorrow and maybe you can run with some other horses?" Mel told her horse lightly. She hoped she could get her out, she needed the excercise.
She looked over at Kelly, "Do you think it's going to be raining tomorrow still? I really need to take Aliyah out. Do the stables have an indoor ring in case it is?" She asked more curiously than interested in more conversation. She couldn't wait to go riding with Aliyah.

Moving around to Gambit's other side, Kelly made sure she was out of the line of fire for the equine conversations and worked on cleaning mud off of his legs and belly from the barrel practice they'd been doing. Gambit for his part moved closer to the divide between his and Alli's stall and reached toward her, swishing his tail and nickering, intently interested in the Arabian now. Kelly crouched down to work some of the mud off of his leg and reached into the kit for a hoof pick. Balancing on her heels, Kelly lifted one of Gambit's hooves and began to work on it until she heard the girl say something.
Raising her head, Kelly looked under Gambit's belly toward the other stall. "Well, this time of year I've heard the rain comes and goes" Kelly said shifting her weight slightly and continuing to work on Gambit's hooves. "It should be clear tomorrow morning, at least I hope it is. Family group ride or something like that, Jill is insisting on it." Kelly rolled her eyes at her flighty as hell twin. "I don't think there is an indoor arena. They just close off the pasture according to what Aaron told me."
She hadn't been around long enough to really know anything about things like that. She just assumed the horses would be taken into the stable, kept in their stalls until the rain stopped and then possibly let back out into the pastures and rings to ride. Either way Gambit wouldn't be going out tomorrow unless it was for the weird group ride thing Jill was dragging her and Aaron on.
"Gambit hold still" Kelly said as the stallion figited, trying to get closer to the Arabian.
Gambit snorted and pulled his leg out of Kelly's grip, standing as close as he could get to the Arabian mare. Kelly sighed and straightened up.
"Fine, be that way but if you get somebody in trouble don't come whining to me" Kelly said, throwing her hands up and tossing the hoof pick and curry comb back in the kit. The stallion snorted. "He's such a guy" Kelly muttered, raking a hand through her blond hair. "Always trying to get the girl."

After Kelly replied Mel said, “Hmmm, okay. I hope it’s clear tomorrow too. Thanks for the help.” Mel bent down then and picked up one of Aliyah’s hooves and began to pick it out. There wasn’t much to do, she had all ready groomed Aliyah at home before they’d come here and she soon moved onto Alli’s last one.
Kelly began to speak again, and Mel gently placed Alli’s hoof back on the ground. She looked at Gambit and smiled, “Looks like someone wants to get to know you, Aliyah. You’d best be on your best behaviour.” Aliyah pricked her ears and whinnied as if she was protesting. “Haha, I know, I know. You are always on your best behaviour!” Melleah laughed and hugged Alli’s neck affectionately. “Hopefully we can get you out tomorrow. It was a long drive here. You need the exercise as much as I want to give it to you.” She smiled warmly up at the Arabian who put her head in Mel’s chest.
“Sounds like you’ll have fun tomorrow, Kelly. Riding is always great.”
