Jill McClain && Smoke Signal The sky was baby blue, puffy clouds floating around looking like big misshaped marshmallows in the sky. At least, that was what they looked like to Jill as she adjusted the strap on her tall dappled grey warmblood, Smoke Signal in the barn. She couldn't wait to get out and ride. Maybe later tonight she'd hit the club in town, Club Nitro, and see if she could score a hot date or just have a little fun. The blond giggled at the thought, remembering her gentleman of a brother and modest as a nun sister. God, how she wound up in such a family was beyond her. Her entire family rode western including Jill but she liked English too and had thus gotten Smoky, her Dutch warmblood mare that she was tacking up.
"Come on girl, lets go show these stable boys how its done" Jill said to Smoky, patting the mare's neck as she led the warmblood out of her stall.
Smoky nickered and swished her tail as she followed her mistress out of the stall and into the stable yard. Jill looked over at Popcorn, her sister's mustang but found her sister wasn't in the stall. Probably getting tack or somewhere with Aaron. Shrugging, the petite teen boosted herself into Smoke's saddle. The mare bobbed her head, ready to ride.
"Let's go girl, time for a little practice" Jill said, clicking her tongue to get Smoky going.
The mare took off at a lively trot, neck slightly arched, showing off her fine and expensive breeding. Smoke had cost Jill more than Aaron's champion barrel racer and Kelly's mustang rescue put together. Of course Jill had worked her arse off to get Smoky since her dad disliked English riding and had refused to buy her a horse that couldn't "work." Now he didn't even care, he'd taken off and dumped all three of his kids with his older brother. Now that Jill thought about it, Aaron had been smart to get out when he did, before getting dragged into big arguments.
Shaking her head, Jill trotted her athletic mare to the cross country course, looking for the jumps and sand traps to pracitce on. Thanks to their major move, Jill hadn't had time to do two things: ride Smoky and get to the local clubs. Today though, she was planning to fix all that and was determined to leave her family blues behind her in favor of a night on the town and long afternoon with just her and her mare, maybe tacking on the possible hot observer? Jill giggled and clicked her tongue to get Smoky up to a canter toward one of the jumps, unaware that she did indeed have a potential observer.

THERE was a slight change in the atmosphere as he lead the large calm mare out of the stall. Her chestnut coat shone like cobber in the sunlight. A smile was put upon the mare’s owner showing how pride he was of his horse. Right beside this particular mare however was a ruckus. A large mixture stallion snorted and shook her elegant head displeased that the mare was taken out. This released a gentle snicker from the male and he patted the soft muzzle. Fine, I’ll let you out. After I’ve cross tied Jumper, ok? Jumper snorted and nodded almost as if she was agreeing. She was a massive Hanoverian standing eighteen hands tall. He smiled at the mare and easily walked her over to the crossties and tied her up. Walking back he looked at the golden plate with a smirk where is said with ease. Six Feet Tall, Six, Adrian A. Ainsworth. And he wondered why he was called triple-A. How ironic. He looked at the Warmblood X Thoroughbred stallion and patted the strong neck. Time for you to get out huh? The horse nodded and the male slipped on a light blue halter and lead rope. Opening the stall door he had to use some strength to keep the large three year old calm.
SIX was a reckless stallion and he showed how much of an ego he truly had. Prancing around the six feet point two inches tall male, the stallion showed a complete ego. He clicked his tongue and walked towards a large pasture, opening the gate he took off the halter and let the once racer go. With heavy beats the stallion tormented around kicking up grass underneath him. Ran smiled, his dark brown eyes watched the stallion dance around. He shook his head and smirked until he closed the gate behind him and walked back into the barn. Too Late to Jump neighed lovingly towards him and he smiled at the ten year old. She was his champion that was for sure. He groomed her with a swift move making her cobber coat shine even more. Finding the beige saddle pad with the brown jumping saddle and bridle he walked out of the tack room. The mare stood perfectly still relaxing completely as he tacked her up without much effort. He was after all, a couple of inches taller then her. And yet they fitted so well together. Slipping on the bit he felt the mare take it without snorting and put the rest of the bridle on. He tightened the girth one last time and then fetched his helmet.
LEADING the mare out of the barn the male took down her stirrups and checked the girth once more. He put on his helmet and mounted her with ease. Jumper as she was nicknamed without knowing really why tugged at the bit gently getting her head, Ran gave the mare her head and nudged her gently into a walk. He was going to the cross course to see how it was. He really needed to exercise and train his horses, Six being the first. Little Miss Sunshine here clearly didn’t need any of the exercise he thought of. She was graced with large powerful legs, her head bowed so ever gently, she had an elegant outlook which was in his favour because her moves where to die for. And Jumper, was an Eventer even if she loved jumping more, she could still be ridden both western and pleasure. But her dressage was her complete strength. He clicked his tongue and the mare went up in a pesky trot. Her ears flicked calmly and she moved her head to see if there was anything interesting on the road. The nineteen year old however wondered where his sister was. He hadn’t really met with Cat as he called her after he’d come back. They had to meet and meet soon.
HE looked around and found himself on the cross course. A sudden halt made the male look at his equine with a confused look, he followed the mare’s head and saw a pair of gals so it seemed. The mare was a Warmblood type that was for sure, and she sure looked expensive. Jumper almost felt the same and snorted, she put up her head higher wanting to show that she could fool others. She wasn’t as expensive as other thought; she didn’t have a perfect bloodline, a couple of mix bred here and there which was why she had such a tall frame. The mare was overheight but Adrian knew of an Oldenburg standing eighteen point three hands. Too bad he couldn’t have had the stallion; he would fly over the jumps. But, he had gotten someone better, the Hanoverian released a snort and he let her go in the shadows, he waited and watched the female canter towards the jump. He wouldn’t move until they were done at least. And as they were done the large male moved his mare out of the shadows. The cobber shining equine moved with a soft step and the male spoke gently out holding his hand up in case they didn’t see him. Hey, nice jump there. He was always bad with introductions, ah well. He didn’t care right now and watched the young female calmly.

Out of her whole family, Jill was the only one that rode not only English but a horse that wasn't a mustang or some sort of stock horse. Of course she'd been told that Aaron had been convinced to mount up on a Welsh but she hadn't been there and never took somebody's word for things when it concerned Aaron. If she did than she would definitely hate her brother with a flaming passion. Jill's whole family claimed English riding was stiff and it was, kind of. It was more formal and elegant than dusty western riding which was why Jill liked it. She wouldn't get covered in dust just riding her horse unless they galloped down a dirt rode for a couple of miles. That was why as Smoky hopped over the jump, she couldn't help but grin. This was what made her different in her dysfunctional family.
Smoky snorted and pranced a little, slowing her pace after she'd cleared the jump, swishing her tail as Jill slowed her to a halt. Before Jill could praise her dappled warmblood, the sound of a guy's voice made her look around. Smoke's ears flicked up and she turned her bridled head the same as her owner.
The "hot guy" alert started going off in Jill's head and she sat up straight in the saddle. A second alarm went off as she got a proper look at the guy. This alarm was the "hot older guy" alert which in turn triggered the "watch yourself" instinct. Shutting off the last alarm, Jill smiled for him and clicked her tongue. Smoky trotted easily over toward the new pair, the guy maybe eighteen or nineteen on a vibrant chestnut mare that was surprisingly tall, at least two hands taller than Smoky.
"I'm just a beginner" Jill said, letting herself blush just a little and patting Smoky's neck. "Smoky does all the work, I just hold on."
Smoky snuffled and reached forward toward Jumper, looking curious as she sniffed the mare's new scent. Smoky was such a patient girl, Jill just loved her even if the horse and herself had totally different personalities. They were about as different as they could get but they still polarized together.
"I don't think I've seen a light horse this tall, what is she?" Jill asked, admiring the nice markings and relatively nice build of the other mare. It wasn't a warmblood but obviously some sort of eventer. Despite riding a warmblood, Jill knew very little about horse breeds that weren't stock or warmblood horses which was kind of sad but it was all she'd ever needed to know.

ADRIAN noticed now how much younger the girl was. Two or three years perhaps? No, defiantly three years, she was not as near as old as Cat was and she was seventeen. He looked at the dappled Dutch Warmblood and could easily see the nice breeding and gave the girl a charming smile. Hearing that she was a beginner wasn’t surprising him. She had a good posture, just small faults here and there nothing important really, but she wouldn’t last a full cross track if she kept up with holding on the mare. Hearing the nickname of the dapple being Smokey made him think how much it fitted the mare. But her color was pretty much elegant for her breed as always in his mind. Jumper stretched down her head with an elegant and gentle manner, she lipped at the other mare’s lips friendly with ears perked. The Hanoverian was already ten years, but she could be stubborn and lively, just not as lively as her friendly neighbour Six. He was a handful. Ah I see. But it’s not always good to rely on the horse. He gave her a charming wink until focusing gently on the mare.
IF Jumper decided to she could easily nip, but it was rare and only when she was really grumpy. She was in a pleasant and friendly mood today and he thanked the lords for that. Seeing how Jill admired his mare and her markings made Ran quite proud of her, she wasn’t a completely purebred Hanoverian and she still took out incredibly great. Yeah, she’s quite tall isn’t she? Eighteen hands. She’s a Hanoverian but there is a long line of a couple of mix’ that made her in a overheight. But she’s quite the lady, aren’t you Jumper? The mare nickered at his statement and flicked her ears so ever softly. He knew what she wanted. She wanted to show off how a great Eventer jumped. Giving a light tight on the mare he could still feel how the ‘r’s where rolling on his tongue. His Scottish accent wasn’t to take a fault of, he had lived his whole life there after all. Finding the time to make a introduction in stead of standing there the male spoke gently. I’m Adrian by the way and this is Too Late to Jump, but I just call her Jumper. What’s your name pretty?
NO Ran was not that kind of guy which shamelessly flirted. He was being innocent and charming that was all, he had no thoughts about taking this young girl out on some hardship, not at all. Even if she told him she would come into the Night club, he would only be a big brother and shrug it off. He wasn’t that kind of guy after all. You’ve worked hard to get the mare haven’t you? I can see it because that mare adores you completely. He gave her a soft smile again. Ok, so maybe he was a little shameless but if Cat busted him in this he would be so dead! I mean, he wasn’t that kind of guy, he just liked to flirt with girls now and then, what was the bad thing about that? He was not going to hit on her, no; she was just too young for him to even think that. He had some respect for girls after all. The chestnut mare lipped at his foot wanting to go over the jump at least one time. Finding it hard to keep the mare in track again Ran gave Jill a soft and excused smile until he went forth. The natural jump was easily aimed in their eye sight and he let her go in a slow canter. The mare perked her ears and felt her head being given, lowering her head an inch she measured and easily flew over, Ran followed her body easily and let her down in a trot until they walked back to the pair again, he stroke the mare and spoke gently. She was nagging, I had to give in. She shrugged at it gently and got silenced, waiting for the young girls reply.

Now that she was closer to him, Jill could see some of the finer points including the fact that unlike most guys he hadn't given her a look over and let his eyes linger where they shouldn't, thank god. Then again, older brothers were good for a few things and that included taking out guys that did that. Aaron had no problem doing it either which Jill found highly amusing. When the guy talked, Jill could hear an accent, probably Scottish, in his undertone which she found quite attractive. Then again, she'd always had a soft spot in her heart for a guy with an accent and yes, that included a southern-boy drawl. Probably the only one she didn't like was French just because it made her think of snobby people and richy-bitchy people.
She smiled for him and patted Smoky's neck. "I'm Jill McClain and this is Smoke Signal, just Smoke or Smoky for short." Smoky nickered and bobbed her head a little as if making her own greeting to the other rider and equine.
Jill watched with interest as Adrian rode toward the jump with Jumper. Just like she had expected, the Hanoverian flew over the jump like a dream which made Jill smile. Even from a western family raised to barrel race and pole bend she could appreciate the elegance of the tall mare. Of course in Jill's highly active mind it looked like the eighteen hand mare probably could have stepped over the jump and been just fine. She was used to horses that ranged from fourteen to sixteen hands, being sturdy stock horses with slightly big bellies, shaggy manes and dark eyes either soulful or wild. She had only had Smoky for maybe a year but she already had adapted fairly well into the world of fancy riding boots, eight hundred dollar saddles and classy riding clothes.
Smiling as they rode back, Jill laughed lightly. "That's ok and you're right, I worked my ass off to get Smoky. She was a trainer used at a riding stable back in Kansas. I saw her and loved her but my dad doesn't believe in horses that can't actually 'work' like his quarter horses and mustangs so he wouldn't buy her. I've only had her for a year but she's a doll."
Smoky swished her tail, watching the chestnut mare and her rider approach.
"Want to ride out the course with us? You can laugh if I fall off" Jill offered, giggling a little. She could just see herself falling off of Smoky and unlike most falling off didn't bother her because it was usually Smoky that caused her to fall when she felt Jill was messing up. Of course it just taught Jill not to do it again so really it was quite effective.

HE gave the pair his usual charmingly smile, his dark chocolate eyes were laid warmly on her face not anything else. He was an overall good guy actually, even if his mother had told him to be careful, the thought of her made him a little sad. She hadn’t handled the pressure and committed suicide last year. He never told Cat, that female was too attached to her mother even if they were total different peoples; they had still supported on each others personality. He smiled hearing her name and nodded gently but could hear her faint accent as well even if it was so ever faint. Nice to meet you Jill and Smokey. The mare nodded her agreement and watched the smaller horse. She sniffed on the dappled horse so ever gently being a rather patient sweetheart Jumper wasn’t a hard nut to get friendly with, though she was incredibly stubborn now and then. The mare stepped with a proud pace when they walked back to the pair, sure she could easily glide over the jumps but it had taken him two years to get her coordination straight and the year after he had gotten Six, his handsome man. The Thoroughbred mix was an off track because his mind wasn’t set on it, he spooked lightly and was highly hyper and aggressive now and then. Ran was on his way to get his horse straight which was working, Six was only high amused when being turned out.
RAN however listened to her words and chuckled lightly at her words. So her father hadn’t approved Smokey? Well what were the odds of that? And a Warmblood not working? The? He knew loads of horses that were well bred that could be cattle horses, Jumper had been one but her coordination wasn’t that good. She had been a little clumsy but she could easily work around a barrel or her cattle due to her personality. He shook his head at the thought of the cobber colored mare running around after cattle with a lumping step and smiled. Well I’ll be d.mned. Every horse can work, maybe your dad need to check his head, not to sound rude. I mean, I ride All-around with Jumper here, she was trained as a western mare but her coordination weren’t good so they had to sell her. After a couple of sessions in balance and better feed she got better. Even tried her in western and she has no problems with working. But then again, I don’t really get the older ‘cowboys’ nowadays. He winked at her gently while the mare snorted and sniffed at Smokey again nipping at the other mare’s forelocks friendly, she was a real sweetheart when Six wasn’t around, at least that was good.
HEARING the invite to do the cross course with this pretty young female went noticed calmly. Of course, he would never decline an offer like that. A pretty female inviting a male? Who would be dumb enough to decline the offer? Jumper murmured softly and looked at him with large eyes almost pleading him to go, he smiled and scratched her forehead until he answered Jill and her mount. I would be dumb if I declined that offer miss. And if I laugh when you fall then you can laugh if I fall. Deal? He smiled a friendly smile at the female meaning what he said. He wasn’t flirting too much, was he?

Jill watched as Smoky interacted with the taller mare, reaching out and sniffing her curiously. It seemed both mares were alright together considering they both showed mainly laid back personalities which made Jill happy. Smoky needed some friends other than Gambit, Comanche and Heart. Then again, that was the McClain herd so Jill was fairly sure the warmblood would always be found hanging around with a rag-tag group of mustangs and quarter horses even if thoroughbreds and warmbloods were an option. Yep, even if born English her girl was western in the company she kept. With Comanche in the lead though it wasn't hard to believe considering in the pasture all together, even Heart stayed with the group she was familiar with.
"Well...you're not far off" Jill said, looking over at Adrian. "Dad does kinda need his head checked but Aaron's the same way, my older brother. I think that's just the way he was raised. He thinks English is stiff and he prefers stocky, strong horses like quarter horses and mustangs. I guess anything else just ins't comfortable. He tolerates Smoky though and I've heard his girlfriend got him up in an English saddle which is really something."
Giggling at the mental image of her six foot brother on a fourteen hand pony cross, Jill clicked her tongue. Smoke Signal swished her tail and took off at a trot toward the path that most riders would follow for the course. Overall the mare did show her good breeding. She had a fine stride, good form and an elegant side appearance. The dapples on her coat were evenly spread and she seemed to be a natural jumper even if her mistress wasn't.
Approaching a jump, Jill let Smoky go a bit faster almost to a canter. The mare flew over the jump without her owner going in the dirt. Jill smiled at the victory and glanced back at Adrian.
"Come on slow poke, show me what you got" Jill called. To echo her owner's call, Smoky let out a whinny as she lined up for the next jump.

THE male gave her a smile and stroke Smokey’s muzzle gently. Jumper sniffed at the dappled mare as well until she retreaded her head. The mare sniffed some of the grass but didn’t take it, she wasn’t hungry at all. Adrian listened to her words and leaned forth upon his saddle while listening. So she had an older brother here? Better watch it then, the thought amused him but he nodded and patted his mare that stood calmly and relaxed underneath him. Warmbloods not sturdy? I must say, someone needs to check their eyes, not mean to sound rude. Warmbloods are as sturdy as any horses. I’m more insecure about Thoroughbreds or Arabians. Their legs don’t look like much. I mean, just look at ol’ Jumper here. Her legs are probably not as masculine as a mustang or Quarter but they have worked hard like any other horse. One should never judge a horse on how it looks, one day they might surprise you. He winked at her playfully noting that he didn’t want to offend her family, he was just stating his opinion. But then again, it wasn’t always good that opinion of his. But of course, he couldn’t help it either.
THE sight of Jill and her dappled Warmblood however made him smile. She was a natural, well a little at least. She could keep her body on the mare and she followed the movements as best as she could. He laughed however at her comment and Jumper neighed challenging Smokey to show her how good she really was. Pawing the ground the cobber colored mare flicked her ears and the male whispered to the mare. Looks like we’re being awaited rather impatiently huh? She neighed and nodded and he clicked her tongue sending her off in a smooth trot and then let her move in a slow canter. They flew over the jump minimizing the hitting on the ground and then cantered forth. He passed the two girls and spoke rather quickly and huskily. Oh, but I think you’re mistaken, you are the ones that are slow. The nineteen year old grinned and let the mare canter to the next jump which they cleared without any effort. The eighteen hand tall mare snorted and danced underneath him nipping at the bit wanting to go right now. But Adrian kept her back until the pair would come back again.

Jill laughed as Jumper and Adrian cantered past Jill and Smoky toward the second jump. Smoky nickered but kept herself at a pace Jill could handle as they went up and over the second jump with relative ease. Jill took a moment to marvel at how well the other guy handled Jumper. She hoped someday she could be like that with Smoky, not as hesitant at taller jumps or jumping the ditches. Sure, Smoky was a school pony at one point but she was bred and born to be in shows which was something Jill intended to do with her. Even without her parents Jill still had Uncle Rich and Aaron to drive her and Smoky across the country for really fancy shows if she ever felt the urge. Yeah, Aaron might both ignore her and hate her for a month afterward but he would do it if she bugged him enough.
Smoky and Jill went over the third jump, only a little bit behind Jumper and Adrian. They kept it fairly close so Jill wouldn't loose sight of the older teen but Jumper had an advantage over Smoky since her rider was more experienced than Jill currently was. Nonetheless, Jill enjoyed it. It was nice to ride with someone else. Aaron was busy with Comanche and his girlfriend and who knew where Kelly had snuck off to? She might be with Gambit or she might be hiding in the hay loft trying to escape from all the weirdness that had crept into the lives of the McClain kids.
Just as Smoky was beginning her line up for the fourth jump, something laying in front of the jump moved. Smoky squealed and dug her hind hooves into the dirt, flinging her front legs up in a wild rear. Jill let out a small scream of surprise, the reins sliding out of her grip and she slid off of Smoky, landing on her butt in the dirt. Smoky shrieked again and dashed off the path for the endurance track, kicking up her heels and flinging her head around, trotting in panicked circles with her eyes rolling.
Looking at the jump, Jill shrieked like her mare and scrambled away from it.
Laying in the dirt in front of the jump was a snake and if there was one thing Jill hated it was snakes. Either Jumper hadn't seen it because it had been still or the mare was better trained than Smoky. Either way, Jill was petrified as the serpent hissed at her.

IT wasn’t that Jumper hadn’t seen the snake or that she was well trained. It was more like Ran seeing the snake and urged her speed so she would jump higher. The mare couldn’t find a time to hesitate because she had to go over no matter what. Going high above the snake so it wouldn’t bite her Adrian felt the mare go to the ground with a light step and turned her just enough to see the scene. Smokey made a rear with turn and cantered off leaving a frightened Jill watching the hissing snake. He could easily see how scared the girl was and took a branch in the tree he nudged the cobber mare into a trot and went in front of Jill creating a barrier so the snake couldn’t go even though it was still on the jump and was rather mad, someone had interrupted its warm nap. The male took the branch and poked the snake enough for it to slither on the branch. Seeing that it would keep on it Adrian backed his mare and made her trot a fair distance away from the girl and on the opposite direction of where the mare had left off. He threw the branch and snake away until turning his mare and cantered back to Jill.
HE dismounted the seventeen hands tall Hanoverian and took Jill helping her up and shook her lightly in case she was still in trance. Jill!? Are you alright? The snake is gone, I promise. He didn’t dare touch her more then holding her from a distance making her look at him. He was frowning while he looks into the young girl’s eyes. The fall hadn’t looked that good but she seemed alright other then being in a more shocking state. Jumper murmured and sniffed the girl nervously until she looked around wondering where the other mare had gone to. Adrian didn’t like it either; he didn’t know how long the mare had been here. If she hadn’t been here for long there could be a problem but Adrian was a pretty good tracker, if he was allowed to say that himself of course.

Jill didn't move when she heard Adrian coming back toward her, a worried look on his face. She was too focused on the slithering, hissing demon in the grass in front of her. The snake was obviously unhappy about Smoky and Jumper disrupting its sun-nap but that wasn't helping Jill's cocktail of disgust and fright. Some snakes were poisonous right? What if this one was? She couldn't tell, she didn't know snakes that well. Jill jumped when Adrian stood between her and the blasted reptile, using a stick to toss it away. When it was gone, Jill swallowed hard and tried to unlock her muscles which had been paralyzed with fright. Holy hell that snake could have bitten her or bitten Smoky.
Before Jill had a chance to try and stand, she felt a warm hand around her upper arm, tugging lightly. It took a second for Jill's frightened mind to process that she was supposed to stand. Forcing her legs to move, Jill slowly hauled herself into a standing position with Adrian's help, letting him support her from an arm's length. Blinking, Jill tried to gather up her scattered thoughts and actually let out a breath to make herself relax.
"I'm ok" Jill told Adrian, trying to keep her voice from shaking. "I just...hate snakes and Smoky startled me." Lame excuse yes but oh well.
Raising a slightly trembling hand, Jill stroked Jumper's velvety muzzle and kissed the mare's nose for her concern and took another deep breath. Looking around for Smoky, Jill took a breath and let out a sharp whistle. Like all of her dad's work horses, Jill had made Aaron train Smoky to come to a whistle.
The dappled grey warmblood was prancing in circles several yards away, rolling her eyes and snorting loudly. Smoky lashed her tail and whinnied, reluctant to go back to where the snake was. She heard her owner's whistle and knew what it meant but was reluctant to obey for once. When the whistle came again, Smoky reluctantly began to move. The slight mare snorted when she was a few feet from Jill, looking ashamed of throwing her mistress but also still fearful.
Smiling softly at Adrian, Jill extracted herself from his hold and stepped toward Smoky. She whistled a third time, this time not sharp and commanding but more curious-like and softer like a kid whistling a little tune. She saw Smoky's ears flick and the mare took a step forward, reaching out with her muzzle toward Jill, still looking shamefaced.
Jill smiled and stepped forward, stroking Smoky's muzzle and kissing her dark grey nose, curling her hand around the dropped reins. She looked over at Adrian, flushing slightly, embarrassed that both she and her horse had so easily freaked out when Jumper hadn't been phased by the snake.
"Sorry about that, snakes are kinda our weakness."

HE didn’t give it in any phrase neither mocked her. Eyes of a dark chocolate which was more or less the darker color of his sister Armelia’s, but then again, they were siblings. Jumper breathed warmly into Jill’s hands appreciating a kiss and murmured lovingly like she usually did. But the lively mare didn’t stand still; she would never stand still even if she was an overall patient mare. His eyes scanned to see the mare come after three whistles looking ashamed and felt sympathy for her. It gave him time to think about how Jumper had been as a reckless three year old. She had always thrown him off and usually regretted it. Of course that depended what was her reason, if he teased her, the mare usually never bothered feeling ashamed. But if she had spooked by accident she did, just like Smokey had done now. Adrian gave the pair a smile but grabbed Jumper’s reins firmly when he saw how she tried to step away to make a run for it. Oh no you don’t! Aye lass I’m sure you want to rrrun, but that doesn’t mean you’re allowed. mo duinne. The Scottish phrase made her ears perk and she nudged him.
LISTENING to them talk about snakes being a weakness didn’t bother him. But he could see how she looked at Jumper and patted his mare. Leading the cobber colored equine forth beside the other girl the nineteen year old gave her a charmingly smile. Don’t worry about it. Everyone has a weakness. I remember when I was little, probably about four. I could never go to bed without looking into the closet, closing the window securely. If I even heard a sound I would run into my parents’ bed saying the scary old hag would come get me. The scary old hag was my grandmother. He could still hear his mother laugh when he had told her he had peed himself seeing his grandmother. But he would probably never admit having his own sister as a weakness. He didn’t like people telling him he had a sister complex, but she had been through enough and he was glad she was recovering safely. Rubbing the back of his neck Adrian watched as Jumper tried to comfort Smokey. The large mare sniffed the smaller one her ears flickering while she murmured softly. She had always been a motherly type, but he didn’t want to cover her, not yet at least. She was still too young, kind of at least.
