Here comes goodbye, here comes the last time Here comes the start of every sleepless night The first of every tear I’m gonna cry
Falon made her way towards the stable with gravel rock that made a trail crumbled beneath her petite frame. She wore a white plain white beater with her levi’s hugging on her lower body with caramel colored hair framing her face. Exploring her way there, she stopped a few moments at a time to take in the scenery that nearly took her very breath away. It was an complicated emotion that she had experienced every once in a while. As soon as she spotted her paint mare she smiled and clicked loudly to get her attention. Gemmy pulled her head up instinctively and her ears flicked back and fourth while she watched her owner. It was a daily routine that both of them went through during feeding time. Pushing her hair behind her ears, she walked up to the stall and slipped her slender arm through the bars and petted her horse lightly and with a certain amount of compassion. Taking her free hand and slipping it into her back pocket, she pulled out a carrot and handed it to her. Gemmy munched happily on the orange object and in three bites it was gone. Licking her lips and tossing her head about, she gave a low nicker as if asking for more of whatever it was. Giggling, the sixteen year old girl petted her mare and pulled her hands by her side and walked near the hay bales. Sitting down lightly, she jumped back up because a piece of thick hay poked her thigh. Removing it and sitting down again she watched her horse and the movements as she paced in her stall letting out low noises to try to push Falon’s buttons. But she didn’t budge, she just sat there and leaned back on the bale behind her while she closed her eyes and put her hands behind her bed drifting off into a somewhat deep trance of sleepiness.

Michael Pierson // Big Bad John Human // Equine Mikey // Cowboy
He whistled as he worked on mucking out the stalls, each stall was apparently left for the horse-owner to clean, something that the young man didn’t mind in the least, rather, he quite enjoyed mucking out his two horses stalls… At least he did when his big Paint stallion wasn’t being a butt and trying to play. Mikey swore softly under his breath as the stallion once more tossed his bright red Jolly Ball over the stall door and out into the aisle. The nineteen year old was convinced that the stallion was just acting like this to frustrate him, and it was working.
The young man, clad in only jeans held loosely by his familiar crimson and black belt and riding boots (his grey sleeveless shirt was hung over the stall door) slipped through the stall door and walked briskly down the aisle to where the Jolly Ball lay innocently. His lightly muscled arms and bare chest were slick with a layer of sweat, as it was fairly hot today and he’d already mucked out his Thoroughbred geldings stall. As he stooped to pick up the Jolly Ball, a clanging bang came from the stallions stall.
Cowboy! Mikey yelled back over his shoulder as he grabbed the red ball and jogged back to the stall. He stopped dead at the sight that greeted him; the stallion had somehow managed to reach over the stall door into the aisle and tip over the wheelbarrow full of old bedding and manure over. Now the horse hung his head out of the stall, gazing innocently at Mikey while chewing on the young mans’ shirt. I swear horse, if you weren’t such a character… He let the threat trail off, knowing full well that Cowboy, and probably just about anyone, could pick up on the amused tone in his voice.
Mikey reached out to grab his shirt from the horse, but Cowboy had other plans and raised his head swiftly, the shirt flying up over his head and out of his half-blind counter-parts reach. The big Paint stallion then danced to the back of the stall and gave his human a challenging look that said quite plainly ‘come and get me’. He chewed on the shirt and tossed his head through the air, swishing his tail while his ears stayed locked onto his owner.

Here comes goodbye, here comes the last time Here comes the start of every sleepless night The first of every tear I’m gonna cry
Falon stirred on the hay bales and when a booming voice rang in her ears her eyes sprung open and body jumped up. Brushing off her body from the hay that stuck to her clothing, she brushed the sleep off and looked around to see where the sound of a male voice had come from. Walking softly to the corner of the isle, she peeked her head around the corner to see who it was. There stood a stallion who had a t-shirt in his mouth and flung it around as if taunting his owner. Closing her eyes and opening them again to make sure she wasn’t losing her mind, she looked at the male with curiosity. He was sweaty and muscular. Just like all the country songs say. Raising a brow, she closed her eyes and sneezed. With her leaning over at such an odd angle the girl tumbled out of her hidden location right smack into the middle of the aisle. It was the most embarresing thing that she thought she would encounter while being here, besides her horse stranding her on the trail ride. Falon’s cheeks burned a bright red color as she looked up, but her locks of brown hair covered her face to hide the shame. Putting her hands on the floor and pushing her small body up, she looked up at him and smiled gingerly. “ Oh um, I was sleeping on the bales and heard you yelling. I thought I would see if anything was wrong “ Falon stumbled over her words as she tried to come up with something intelligent to say. But it didn’t sound like she even did that right. Brushing her butt and stomach off, she looked up and smiled, bright pearly teeth glimmering. It was embarresing enough that she fell while spying on him and the amazing stallion. But muttering like an idiot didn’t help. Not being able to stand it anymore she took off around the other corner and put her back on the wall and slid down it. She was in a crouching position with her knee’s tucked to her chest before she realized that her hands were bleeding from rocks scraping it. With her narrow hands she held them up to check out the damage and began to pick out the little rocks while trying to prevent it from bleeding further more.

Cowboy! He hissed to the horse, narrowing his eyes as he picked up the red Jolly Ball and flung it at the equine. The stallion darted out of the way of the ball and nickered through the cloth, clearly having fun teasing his human. Mikey, however, had lost sight of the fun a few minutes ago and was now just trying to corner the stallion in its stall to get his shirt back before the horse ate it. Drop it! For a horse who’s so smart he caught onto tricks after the second or third attempts, you sure can be pretty dumb at times…
Both Mikey and Cowboy forgot their ‘game’ and turned to look as the younger girl fell into the aisle. Neither had known she was there, and Mikey wondered momentarily just how long she’d been watching their game. He wasn’t embarrassed to be caught at it, the few years he’d lived on his uncles ranch had changed him, and he no longer became embarrassed at such simple things. Wha-… Uh… right… Mikey was at a loss for words, though, and a glance at the stallion showed that the horse also had a somewhat surprised expression in his eyes.
As the girl bolted, Mikey gaped after her, unsure of what to do. She was nothing like his cousins, that was for sure… the younger ‘ranch-bred’ ones have just popped back up with a cheeky grin and start talking about the next time they were going mud-riding or asking if they could use Cowboy for barrel racing practice… and Karen, his only cousin who rode english and owned her own barn would have just laughed it off before teasing him about ‘losing his shirt’ to a horse.
No, definitely not like his cousins…
Michael took the moment that Cowboy was standing still to reach out and grab his shirt, jerking it from between the stallions’ molars. He eyed the wet slobber spot on the shoulder, then shrugged and pulled the grey shirt over his head. Behave, Cowboy. He told the Paint as he made sure the stall door was latched securely, I’m going to go check on her, I think we kinda startled her or something, I’ll be back to clean up this mess you made in a few minutes. Behave. He uttered the last word rather severely before jogging around the corner, keeping a lookout for the girl.
Hey, you ok? He questioned when he found her sitting against the wall trying to pick gravel out of her skinned hands. Didn’t mean to startle you, if we did… Mikey’s tone was light and friendly, a little amused but still somewhat concerned as well. He crossed his arms and stood on the opposite side away from her, in case he made her nervous, though he didn’t see why a person would be nervous of him for… he was only 5”9, blind in one eye and slowly going blind in the other, though no-one knew it yet as he kept his left eye covered by his hair to hide the blue-grey mixed with brown color of that eye and his right eye was its natural brown color. A small smile played at the corners of his mouth as he awaited her reply to the question, but he didn’t laugh. Word Count: 585
