He grabbed the slick from the closet and pulled it on while moving. Outside, the rain, thunder, and lightning seemed much worse than what it sounded, but Travis guessed that it would [hopefully] be gone by morning. If it wasn’t, they were going to be flooded. He jogged behind Amy, the water spraying up onto his jeans with every step. Luckily it was just standing puddles, not too muddy.
He closed the side door behind him as he entered, thanking God that it was dry, though he hadn’t expected any less. The water dripped to the floor, though he ignored it, figuring that it wasn’t too much of a problem, and followed Amy to the stalls, lingering back a little bit at first. He could hear at least one horse making a racket on up in the barn.
She’s a nice mare. Travis said as he moved up to stand beside Amy and raised a hand to trail down the mares face. Unique markings… should be a pretty foal when it’s born. She looks good. He scratched the mare between the eyes gently, eyeing her bulging belly, but said nothing else. ((sorry it’s cruddy, I really don’t have a muse tonight)

Lady snorted softly, backing off a bit when she saw the new male come up beside the woman she was somewhat familiar with. When the human made no move to hurt Lady, she allowed his touch since it was similar to Taylor's treatments when she was being checked or grooming. Lady relaxed and let the humans stroke her neck and head for a while before deciding she wanted to sleep. Turning, the mare pulled her head back into her stall and headed off to the wall she shared with Ink's stall and stood beside it, lowering her head and looking ready to doze off within half a minute.
Amy smiled and tugged Travis' sleeve lightly to he would follow her farther down the aisle. She was taking this route for a reason, so Travis could check on Charlie while they were in the barn. Amy could hear at least one horse making a racket somewhere in the barn but it wasn't as bad as some fits she had heard so she made no real note of it. Most of the horses that freaked out through the storms would settle down after an hour or so, so she didn't worry too much. Instead Amy headed down among the horse stalls, listening to the shuffling and snorts of the horses as the dimmed beam of light disrupted their sleep.
Finding the stall she was looking for, Amy clicked her tongue lightly, hoping Charlie would come up and say hi to Travis so the tech could stop worrying. "I know you're probably still worried about him" Amy said softly, smiling and standing next to the pony's stall so Travis could go in or just stand at the door if he liked.
Glancing into the stall next to Charlie's, Amy saw the form of a bay moving around in the darker corners of the stall but made no move toward the unfamiliar horse. Instead she turned back toward Charlie's stall and Travis.
Leaving Travis to have his moment with Charlie, Amy put down the flashlight where Travis could grab it and headed off into the dark, the occasional flash of lightning lighting her way. On the outer wall of the stable were the birthing stalls where Amy counted two over and stopped, clicking her tongue softly. In the depth of the darkness she could just barely see the forms of not one but two horses in the stall and smiled. Dream had foaled and from the looks of it the baby was doing fine.

It took the drowsy pony a few moments to make his way to the stall door, and by the time he got there Amy had already left. The grey pony looked half asleep, though also pleased to see Travis, and he nickered a soft welcome, his dark eyes brightening up immediately upon seeing the man. The pony raised his head to rest it on the top of the stall door, but then moved back only seconds later when Travis unlatched the door and softly said Back.
Travis entered the stall and knelt down beside the pony, murmuring unintelligible words under his breath while scratching the little horse underneath the mane. Charlie sighed and lowered his head, enjoying the scritchin' and nudged Travis in the stomach when the man paused. Travis petted Charlie on the side of the neck before standing and exiting the stall, and Charlie, seemingly understanding that the visit was over didn't try to follow.
He grabbed the flashlight after relatching the stall door and flicked it on before moving on down the barn where he could see Amy standing. He joined her after a few moments and handed the flashlight back to her, even though it was his light, it was her barn. ((sorry its not good, my muse left me....))
