Chase Anders & Don't Stop the Music One thing more relaxing then the steady beat of a base? The sound of horse hooves galloping, just one beat after another. Chase loved it, was practically addicted to a strong beat and right now the strongest beat around was his former racer, Muse as she cantered down the Bowing Creek Trail. Chase's six foot three inch frame was hunched over her neck, low as the mare thundered along under an eve of open tree limbs along the creek that ran past the stable. Intense dark eyes watched the trail, the eyes of both horse and rider, one imagining a race track and the other imagining a fast track away from a life gone wrong. Sadly, the trail would just take them back to square one in the end but for now it was nice to think it would get them both far away from Ravenhook, Virginia and dysfunctional families.
Chase's hands tightened on the reins as the thought of his family. He'd been passed around among his relatives since he had been ten and his mom had died. It was his aunt that got him to ride when he lived with her in Texas but now he was stuck in rainy Virginia with his uncle that drank too much and couldn't make enough to board Muse which meant Chase had to work for her keep. His uncle was the reason he was so mad at the moment, he'd come home drunk again and Chase had had enough.
Now he and Muse were heading down the trail fast approaching a gallop that was dangerous since it had rained just an hour ago and the trail was slick, the creek flowing fast from the springtime rain. Still, right now Chase just didn't care. He needed to get away and get away fast. The powerfully built dappled grey thoroughbred he road seemed to sense her master's unhappiness and ran hard and fast even if she wasn't as surefooted as she normally was.
Whipping around a bend in the trail, Muse nearly slid but managed to save herself from sliding into the creek and kept her footing. For all the notice Chase gave it might as well have just been another solid step. Muse snorted, growing unhappy at the pace and sensing rain coming in again from the grey sky overhead. She snorted and faltered as they approached the crest of a slight slope. Chase urged her along nonetheless and the mare went. In a flash or red fur a squirrel ran across Muse's path.
Already high strung and unhappy, Muse spooked. She let out a shrieking neigh and flung her weight backward, boxing the air with dangerously deadly hooves. Chase, caught by surprise barely had time to let out a shout of surprise before he was flung off the mare's back and onto the ground, knocking his head soundly on the ground. Muse screamed again and pranced, lashing her tail and tossing her head, dancing on the path and snorting as her eyes rolled to show a rim of white.

kanta Railet Opeting & Fearful Possession Rae & Sion Past happening's haunted her today, But still life went on and she would look back at what happened and see hope somewhere. Maybe life wasn't a complete mess and just a small problem here and there, But no she had two large problems she still couldn't accept. Loosing two lives then gaining one. Two mistakes and one praise. Was life worth the pain? Only for what has been gained, and not lost. Nothing good happens in life unless you stop looking for it and start giving up. Until then what is it worth. What you have to gain.
The thunder of hooves against the earth, the moving figure of two, both cloaked in black. A huge 18hh Irish Hunter mare. Carrying her 6ft owner, who today worse tight black jeans, long riding boots, A black t-shirt. And her usual wrist splint, elbow support and shoulder brace. Her past would always be in the present somewhere. As the mare carried her master through the trees and along the path the sound of another set of hooves caught both mare and riders attention. she was approaching them, but then the scream of a horse snatched at her attention. allowing her mare to slow to a canter and taking the path more carefully Rae slowly reached the scene. Keeping her mare at a quick pace she rushed toward the panicked horse. Grabbing the animals reins and swinging off of her own horse, now holding the reins of two in her hands she started to try and calm the new mare.
Sion stood back and watched looking between the two humans here. Rae knew that if the horse was calm she could try and help the person on the ground. Maybe he would come round while his horse was tended to, Maybe not. Dropping Sion's reins to the ground the female focused on the thoroughbred knowing her well trained mare wouldn't go anywhere other than to the person who by the looks of things had fallen, or been thrown from his horse.

As a new horse and rider appeared toward Muse and her fallen rider, the dappled thoroughbred let out a challenge, prancing in front of her fallen owner. Pawing the ground, snorting and flinging her head this way and that, Muse struggled as a human grabbed her reins. The thing about Muse was that she was very picky about who touched her. Chase was the only one allowed thus far. So, when the girl grabbed her reins, Muse neighed and tried to rear. Other humans hurt her. Chase didn't. Muse let out a screaming neigh, kicking up her hind legs and snorting noisily trying to get away. Her eyes rolled, a rim of white showing.
The first thing Chase was aware of was the fact that his head hurt. A steady throb in the back of his head was his first sensation and next the sound of something else thudding nearby. Some high pitched squeal sounded but it seemed like it was distant. Groaning, the teen forced his eyes open. The world blurred for a second before setting into place. The first thing he saw was the legs of a very tall black horse. Chase yelped in surprise and tried to scramble back but the sound of another neigh made him look around, head throbbing with the movement. Muse was throwing a fit, someone trying to hold the reins.
"Hey! Let her go!" Chase demanded, trying to sit up and watching the world tilt crazily.
At the sound of her master's voice, Muse's ears went up and she strained against the girl holding her reins, trying to approach her master and snorting a challenge at the monstrously tall mare that was too close for her comfort.
Struggling, Chase got to his feet, swaying slightly and trying to not vomit. If the world would stop spinning so fast thing would be all good and he really wished Muse would stop neighing, it wasn't helping the whole headache situation.

She released the mares reins when the person she could only assume was the horses owner told her to. Calling her own mare back Raie stood and watched the guy wanting to help him but from his atitude he wouldn't let her no matter what was happening. "Sorry I was trying to calm her down. But if you don't want my help I might as well return and get Amy and a couple of stable hands out here to help you get back"
She wasn't trying to sound mean or bossy, but she could clearly see that the person who had fallen couldn't ride his horse back without either falling off of her again or getting lost somewhere and not being able to be found at all. Standing beside her huge mare Raie watched the boy as he tried to stand and eventualy was standing, looking like a drunk on his legs she really wanted to help him and his horse. But every muscle in her body kept her where she stood so the boy wouldn't have a go at her for trying to help.

As soon as she was free, Muse was jogging over to her owner. Circling the male, the dappled racer bumped him with her nose as she circled, snuffling and seeming to appraise his condition before coming to a halt. Standing at her owner's shoulder the mare draped her head over his shoulder, looking as possessive as a jealous girlfriend. She sent a glare at the other pair and snorted, obviously not liking anyone making a move of any sort on her owner whether it was telling him what to do or trying to flirt. Anything with the opposite gender that included her owner was not good in Muse's book.
Chase let his horse circle, murmuring softly to her and sincerely thankful that she finally stopped moving. If she made another circle he was sure he was going to vomit. Heaving a sigh, Chase leaned against the mare a little, looking over at the tall girl beside her surprisingly tall mare. His look was appraising but not in the perverted way. He wasn't sizing her up so much as just trying to figure out what he could about her without knowing to her or having talked to her before.
"Don't need help getting back" he said finally. Muse snorted and tossed her head. Chase reached back and grabbed her bridle, holding her head still. "If you don't stop moving girl, trust me you won't like the result" Chase said, leaning his head against Muse's neck.
The thoroughbred snorted, pawing the ground and still glaring toward the girl and her tall horse. Being a racer for years, Muse didn't like being shown up which was why she had such a touchy attitude and and thus been taken out of racing. She had never won but she always acted like the queen of the track until Chase got a hold of her.
Chase looked over at the duo his mare was staring at, looking at the dark mare. "What kind of horse is she? Never seen one that tall."

Raie couldn't make much sense of this guy, he clearly couldnt ride his mare back and by the looks of it she was playing the role of master here as a pose to letting the human take the leading step. She grabbed up her mares reins and rested them over her back listning to the boy with his horse she had to look away unsure if he was threatning the mare or just telling her to stand still. But of course she was a stranger to him and he to her.
He spoke about Sion and the mare looked down at him, her eyes almost showing a smile but she soon returned her gaze to the race horse. One who aparently couldn't stand still. Raie turned to look at the two after making sure her mares reins wouldn't get in her way if she started to graze or something, but still Raie didn't hold the mares reins knowing she wouldn't wander far.
"Fearfull Possession is an Irish Hunter. Just a very tall hunter"
Her words were spoken through gritted teeth so she could keep it together, she was extremely close to taking her mare back to get Amy or another stable hand because no matter what this person said he still didn't look like he should be standing let alone caring for a horse as well as riding it. But what could she say or do that would make him acept the facts here. nothing.

"That, has got to be a major understatement" Chase commented idly, eyeing the tall mare.
At least she looked calm enough, much calmer then Muse but Chase knew Muse. For now she was just getting over her spook and like most horses she did have flighty tendencies. It didn't make her a bad horse, just one that you had to be careful with. Besides, she was made to move and she moved. Chase wouldn't have her any other way. Patting Muse's neck, he straightened up and paused. The world tilted but not as violently as before. At least it was a little better now. Slipping a hand into his pocket, Chase pulled out a treat and offered it to Muse. The mare took it with surprising delicacy and a soft snuffle, seeming to slowly grow quieter.
Glad the mare was calming down, Chase patted her neck. He didn't look like the horse-riding type and knew it but he liked it. You picked up little weird things you liked when you spent your life getting shuffled from aunt to uncle to cousin. After a while something had to wear off and his aunt's love of horses had worn off on Chase. He still wore baggy jeans, shirts that looked too big and had weird designs, didn't bother with a riding helmet and overall just didn't look like somebody that belonged on a saddle at all. He was six foot three with a moderately buff build and since most people anybody saw on a thoroughbred were pipsqueaks, it was kinda a surprise but Muse fit him well enough. She was powerful and had a flare of personality that couldn't be denied. In a weird way, they went together.
"If your going to go down the trail you can go, I don't need help" Chase said, not looking up as he swung himself into Muse's saddle, trying to ignore the world tilting and whirling. "I'm going to finish the trail before I go back, Muse needs the work out."
Muse nickered softly with a look that plainly said "don't pin this on me!"

She heaved a sigh, ok at least now things seemed clearer to her, well maybe they did. She wasn't exactly sure but that didn't matter. He spoke again and she looked up at her mare who at the same time looked down to her master. Both seemed to know what was happening when and so made a sometimes amusing pair but still they were serious when it came to riding out.
"If you don't mind i'll ride back with you. I was going to turn around soon anyway. I just wanted to get Sion out of her stall for a short while."
She turned and pulled herself into the mares western saddle, her equipment was black, even the saddle blanket and the boots the mare wore. Her bridle was a western bridle in black to match her saddle and well all of the equipment she wore. Taking the reins up in one hand Raie kept the mare standing where they had stood to talk to the boy with his horse. Maybe he would want to ride back alone, maybe he would let her ride back with him.

Chase rolled his eyes. Why did nobody believe him when he said he didn't need help? Nobody ever did. They always assumed he was white trash that needed a leg up in life or didn't think he knew himself well enough to know when to call it quits. Yeah, he was stubborn sometimes but if he could stand, he could ride. That was how Chase figured it but if the girl wanted to waste her time that wasn't his problem. Besides, as soon as the world stopped whirling he could get Muse to gallop and they'd loose them once and for all, eighteen hands or no. It was true Muse hadn't won many races but she was still quick and now had more control with Chase as her rider.
"Whatever. It's your waste of time" Chase muttered.
Urging Muse forward, Chase's hold on the reins tightened a little as the mare started forward. His head was still killing him but Chase was confident he could make it through the trail without giving the girl reason to go to Amy and tell the owner he had fallen. That wasn't what he needed right now. Besides, it was kind of his fault for riding so fast when it had just rained. Muse wasn't to blame and Chase wouldn't let anyone think it was.
"Easy, Muse" Chase murmured as the mare snorted at the girl's mare. "Pick your battles with a horse your own size."
Righting her path, Chase urged the mare further along the path, determined to ignore the girl until she decided to give up and leave him alone. Muse reluctantly turned from being aggressive toward the other mare to sulking and ignoring her. She arched her neck slightly and snorted softly, picking her way along the Bowing Creek path. Muse never had been the best tempered horse. She liked being handled but also liked attention and other horses around took attention away from her. Originally her owners had trained her to be aggressive because aggressive race horses won races. Sadly, Muse didn't turn into a winner, just angry. Some races she hadn't even made it into the gates before picking a fight or throwing her jockey off.

"Actualy it wont be a waste of time, But if you really want me to go I can, I don't see why I should have to put up with you sulking. All I am doing is trying to be nice as a pose to controling or something" Raie spun her mare around and slowly, very slowly they followed behind the pair and made sure they gave the other two space Kanta really didn't want to turn aorund going to Amy with a fighting horse and an unconcious guy draped over her horse, it would ruin Amy and destroy South Blues.
Keeping there distance Sion and Kanta slowly walked along, Sion walking with her neck arched and her walk colected so she could keep her walk slower than the horses infront of her as a pose to pushing past and running off back to the stables and to the owner. Black hooves gently broke the earth to leave behind prints that would be washed away with the next lot of rain that was to fall, and most likley soon.

Chase was glad the girl kept her horse back. He knew that when Muse was edgy she could get competitive and that wouldn't exactly be good considering he already had been thrown off the saddle once by a squirrel. He didn't need an eighteen hand beast making Muse throw him again. It was just something he didn't need on top of a headache. So, Chase kept his mare at a moderate pace, trying to keep focused. Occasionally his eyes would flick back to glance at the Irish Hunter and Kanta. It was then that he first noticed the braces that were on her right arm. Adjusting Muse's gait, Chase let her fall back a bit closer to the Hunter and saw that he hadn't been seeing things.
"What's wrong with your arm?" Chase asked, glancing at the dark mare and almost wondering if she had caused some sort of injury.
Then again the mare didn't look violent despite her size. Even when Muse was being antsy and screaming like a dying animal she hadn't attacked or switched moods as far as Chase could tell. She was probably a retired school pony from some other riding school. Still, just about any horse was capable of causing an injury, sometimes by accident and sometimes not. It just depended on the situation.
"If you don't want to say you don't have to, jus' noticed" Chase said, glancing away.
He had remembered people didn't like their disabilities being pointed out. Chase didn't have any real disabilities other then the fact he tended to forget things or not really have any motivation. That wasn't a physical ability people could stare at so it wasn't such a big deal but still, he didn't like being called on it.
Muse snorted, sulking about being closer to the Irish Hunter. She arched her neck, tugging the bit a little but stopped when Chase tugged back. The mare walked dejectedly beside the bigger mare, not looking at the other horse and overall trying to ignore or deny her existence.

When the other mare was pulled up beside her Sion arched her neck and tried showing a freindly manner toward the mare, her body language spoke for her, hello was in every moove she made, but when the other started to try and ignore her she just acepted it and watched the track ahead.
She sighed, but if no-one knew everyone would assume poor Sion was the cause of her disabilty. "Me and one of my past horses got hit by a truck when we were out on a ride once, Most of my right arm was crushed, and my horses life was taken..." She trailed off as she thought about her poor horse who tried everything to help her owner get away from the truck.
But that was her tale and she couldn't exactly hide the three different braces that she had to wear on her arm, not when the weather was warm anyway. You cant wear long sleeved tops in the summer. Looking at the two mares and shaking her head lightly. "Dose your mare not like other horses?"
Her question was almost answered by the two mares actions but Sion tried to be nice and show the mare attention. "Oh i'm Kanta, and this is Sion." She had completely forgot to even mention her own name, yes she had mentioned her mares but that was all.

Chase felt bad for Kanta and felt like an ass for being so rude but oh well. That was him whether she liked it or not, pity or no pity. Accidents happened, accidents like hers and that was why Chase never rode his horses along roads or highways. It just wasn't safe enough for him and if someone honked at them he was sure Muse would freak and get them both killed. "My name is Chase" Chase said, glancing at the dark-haired girl he was riding with. "And Muse is just...not social. She used to be a racer but her owners wanted her to be an aggressive racer. When she got too aggressive they almost slaughtered her but I bought her. I used to live near one of the main tracks she raced on in low-stakes races and I liked her. A friend of mine that worked there said they were going to sell her so I spent every penny I had on buying her. She's rough on the outside but she doesn't mean any harm."
Really the mare was a lot like him. She was aggressive and mean on the outside but once you got through to her she often appeared scared. It was like she always thought someone was going to hurt her, so, she would be mean and hurt them before they got her. That was more or less how Chase was most of the time. He had hurt people so they couldn't hurt him. They got along and that was enough for him. Yeah she didn't ride in shows but she was still the only thing that was one hundred percent his and the only constant in his life. Of course now Chase worked almost none stop for Muse's upkeep but it was worth it.
"Six months ago, Muse would have knocked your head in and taken on your mare over there without thinking twice, so really she's made a lot of progress" Chase commented, patting Muse's neck.
The dappled thoroughbred turned her head when he touched her neck, looking like someone brought out of their own thoughts. His words were true though. Her nature had been taught out of necessity but now when it wasn't needed she didn't know what else to do. It had taken Chase months just to get her to stop freaking out about going into trailers or trying to bolt. Now she was obedient but just for him.
Muse eyed the Hunter, seeing the body language the horse was using. She swished her tail and Chase could see the debate in her eyes. Muse reached her nose halfway toward the eighteen hand mare before drawing back as if double thinking the action, doubting its safety.

Sion turned her muzzle to the mare once again but this time she held it there for a little longer before turning back to the path, if the mare at her side didn't want to be nice then she would just laeve her alone because she didn't want to start a fight of any sorts. Walking along her gait collected and her ears forward, her pelt like a shadow in the light as she walked obediantly making sure she wasn't even giving the look of trying to be bigger or better than the other mare.
"Looks like you have done alot of work on her then. I got Sion from a riding school, the stables were colapsing and were due to be taken down, the day I got her she was stood in the back of a stable that was knee deep with water and muck, she had infected cuts up her legs and was covered with flys. And all of that done nothing to her gentle personality."
Kanta was proud of her mare, but like all horses she sometimes he her glitches like not getting on well with some children but acepting them as long as they didn't seem too stuck up or something like that, Kanta looked down to Chase and his mare Muse giving them a small smile beore turning back to face the path much like her mare had done toward Muse.

Chase didn't reply, simply stayed focused on the path ahead. He had seen the girl look over at him but didn't look back. He could seriously use some aspirin but it wasn't like he made a habit of carrying the stuff. Maybe someday he would? He really should considering Muse usually found some way to give him a headache, sometimes without any sort of physical contact. Oh well. Chase held the reins in one hand and rubbed his other over his face. Muse nickered and tossed her head, catching sight of the stable through the trees. She wanted to run like she used to. The mare whinnied, the sound questioning, asking permission.
The boy in the saddle chuckled and patted Muse's neck, taking the reins in both hands again. "Ok, ok girl" Chase said. "Lets go."
Tapping his heel sharply against Muse's side, Chase leaned forward. Muse snorted and took off at a full, all out gallop like a racehorse from the starting gate. Her attention was now not focused on ignoring the Irish Hunter but moving ahead, making it to the stable. Chase leaned over her neck, trying very hard not to be sick as the dappled mare galloped along the last three hundred yards to the stable and clattered into the stable yard. When she reached the yard, Muse pulled to a stop, trotting in a circle before stopping. When she was still, Chase couldn't tell until the world stopped whirling around.
A bit clumsily he swung out of the saddle, making a mental note to not let Muse gallop after she throws him off next time. Still, he patted the mare's neck when she bumped her nose against his arm in search of some sort of praise. Chase gave it halfheartedly, not noticing if Kanta rode into the yard behind them or not.
Taking Muse's reins, Chase started toward the barn, one hand rubbing his head.
