![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Boarding Stable (2 sub-boards) This is the main structure that contains all the stalls of boarded and school horses. In the back, past the stalls is the tack and feed room. Students are responsible for all tack kept in the room and may be reprimanded if it is found a mess. Students are also responsible for their horse's stall. The barn is modern and clean with spacious stalls and a well lit interior. At the very back wall is a narrow staircase that leads up to the loft. Moderator: <Amy> | 42 | 300 | on Jun 3, 2009, 5:02pm by O.blivion in the sunset still looks... |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Wash Stalls Three stalls near the tack room are the wash stalls, complete with hoses and cross ties. There's plenty of room in these stalls to move around and make sure your horse is squeaky clean. The floor of the stalls is tiled and slightly sloped toward a drain to minimize the mess. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Loft The narrow stairs at the very back of the stable lead up to small loft where a couple bales of straw are kept. Students that need time to themselves tend to come here and relax or talk with friends. Couples that come up here are advised to keep it clean, staff members tend to pop in unexpectedly. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Rider Lounge This is a building near the barn where students can relax and staff tend to have their meetings. Student pictures, ribbons and trophies are displayed on shelves and there's a kitchenette kept stocked with sodas and bottled water for trail rides or just hanging out after a ride. When competitions are held here, students meet here and talk with instructors before going into the rings. Moderator: <Amy> | 3 | 34 | on Apr 24, 2009, 10:44am by Free in pretty' ODD -- open |
| Riding Rings |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Jumping Ring This is a fair sized pen that contains various jumps ready to be used. The jumps range in heights and students are allowed to adjust heights depending on their skill level. Students are allowed to use this pen without supervision but don't be surprised if a teacher stops by. Moderator: <Amy> | 9 | 41 | on May 21, 2009, 2:51pm by angel1123 in Live YOUR Life ; Best ... |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Dressage Ring This pen is rectangular and fairly large, set up for dressage practice and eventing. A few nearby large oaks provide shade which is why this ring is often converted for jumping and other events that are held at the stable. More often then not it is kept for dressage and is left for students that are using it for that particular event. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Large Ring This is a fairly large circular corral used for various things. It has no jumps or dressage set up and is usually used for quick warm ups or cool downs after lessons. When there are foals at the stable, students and teachers use this ring to break in foals or work with new arrivals from the TAEA. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Small Rings There are three riding corrals used to hold TAEA horses after they arrive at Southern Blues. These are smaller then the main large ring and not meant for really working a horse but rather just holding for one or two horses and whoever is working them. These corrals are close to the stable making the trip of walking a new horse into a stall that much shorter. Moderator: <Amy> | 9 | 84 | on Apr 12, 2009, 5:43pm by lilly in A Short Ride (open) |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Western Ring This is for students that prefer or are learning how to ride Western style. Various practices can be held here ranging from poles to barrels. Horses being trained to a halter are also worked here because of the large size of the ring if the other rings are being used. | Southern Blues Trails & Land |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Honeyoak Trail Weaving through the back portion of Southern Blues' property is a narrow, wooded trail that leads away from the pastures and stable. Students often enjoy this trail in the autumn because of the many kinds of trees. A porition of the trail runs alongside the Bowing Creek and leads up to a wooden bridge that lets riders go across the creek and join up to the Bowing Creek Trail. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Bowing Creek Trail The Bowing Creek Trail is more of an endurance course that leads away from the back of the stables, across the Bowing Creek and out across the back woods. The path is a bit rough but experienced riders handle it well enough. The trail is long and can take several hours to go along. Most of it runs along the Bowing Creek to a second bridge where students can cut the ride short and go along the Honeyoak Trail back to the barn. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Cross Country Course This course is set up on an old trail and is set with ditches and jumps to allow students to practice cross country riding. As with the other trails it is not highly advised to run these courses alone. Moderator: <Amy> | 2 | 13 | on May 17, 2009, 3:48pm by katie in Lose Yourself |
![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Horse Pasture This is a large pasture of rolling hills, strips of trees and a small pond where horses can be let out to stretch their legs. Horses are kept here while stalls are being cleaned or when the weather is good but riders aren't around. Stable hands and students can move horses in and out of the pasture. Here, horses socialize with one another. **Note: this is the only board where horses may be without their riders. ![[ ]](http://i41.tinypic.com/2czbhua.png) | Ravenhook, Virginia (7 sub-boards) This is a charming small town roughly half an hour's scenic drive from Southern Blues Stables. The people are charming, roads a little on the neglected side but the views worth it. Affectionately referred to as "Small Town, USA" this is a town where the stables provide a constant income of new people and the old linger to tell their tales.
